Multimedia slideshow project

1. I wish to explore the digital divide separating East Austin communities.
2. Heated debate about gentrification sweeping East Austin makes this topic timely and significant because a lot of the information and surveys about such urban renewal projects have been available only online.
3. A slide show would work for this project because readers would get a better idea of and actually be able to see the changes that have swept Austin in recent years.
4. I would gather photographs of Austin in the past, take pictures of new development around Austin. I would collect information about internet centers at East Austin and interview college students, city officials, realty managers, East Austin families and others affected.

    You will need to highlight the technological aspect in this story. This will be difficult for you to focus on unless you know for sure what technology is being used to carry out this process or is there a technological reason why this is being done. But, on the surface it seems more of a social piece than a technological one. Try to sharpen it so that it fits the requirements of the larger topic - i.e. technology.
    A piece of advice - try to think of alternate ideas, since this idea will be quite difficult to pull off given the time and resource constraint.
