story idea
I want to look at the effects of screens (computer, TV, movies, i-stuff, etc.) on the human condition and question whether our technological progress has merely provided us with more efficient means for going backwards. My focus will be on the importance of communication but also the psychological dependencies and attachments that develop. For example, you're in a class group that has made a Facebook page to communicate throughout the semester but you don't use Facebook (for whatever reason). Are you SOL or are you now required to sign up for Facebook? If these technologies enslave us to a life of second/digital/false realities, why is it that we're so eager to volunteer? Why do friends sit on a couch and watch a TV show featuring some friends sitting on a couch? The best way to present this might be a slideshow with audio clips and photographs/screenshots. Who will miss holding a photo and who is just fine waiting for it to download? I'd like to ask people what they think of the digital world we have created for ourselves.

This is a very interesting feature story. But to make it more visual, you have to focus on a particular person's (or group of people's) story, who has (have) been affected adversely by these technologies. For now, try to sharpen this idea so that it includes a human element and it also has a strong story line that would urge your audience to pay heed to this it.
